Music Advice

Well, I was going to begin the smocking tutorial today; but Mr. Blogger won't let me put pictures on here. Instead I'm going to ask for some help for a friend of mine. She commutes with her almost 3 yr old twins about an hour (one way). She is in dire need of some new music for them! Any suggestions?
Here are the Ramsey girls' current favorites:
  • Old School Elvis (Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, etc.)
  • Soundtracks (Mary Poppins, Annie, and Sound of Music. I'm not kidding. They can totally rock out to some "Doe a Deer")
  • Kid's Dance Party (Kids singing songs that have dances that go with them. Think Macarena, Electric Slide)
  • 100 Sunday School Songs
  • Sly and the Family Stone Greatest Hits

What are your kids listening to?

My girls love the musical soundtracks too. Mary Poppins, Annie and High School Musical are their favorites currently! We should get all the girls together for a performance - that would be a blog entry!!!

Nora LOVES LOVES LOVES "Hide 'Em in your Heart" songs. If you type that into google it will lead you to a site. I got mine on Amazon. They are verses put to song. It's a great way to learn verses and Nora is constantly asking me to play them "agin". I'm learing my memory verses too :).

Don't forget about Laurie Berkner. Yes it's kids music, but it's silly and not too annoying!

My son Ben's absolute favorite is the Laurie Berkner Band. He loves her cd's and they are really not horrible to listen too...I find myself singing along quite often!! You can get the cd's at Walmart..alot of her songs are on NOGGIN.

Graceland (Paul Simon)
World Playground/Folk Playground (Putamayo Kids--you can get at Target)
Dan Zanes' stuff is fun!

I need to try the Elvis--I think JM would enjoy that! I am thinking about getting one of those Old Navy mix cd's. When we pull up in the parking lot, John Mark starts yelling & signing "music!!" He boogies in the cart :)

My kids LOVE Laurie Berkner...Victor Vito is probably their very favorite song that she sings. You can check her out at:
http://www.twotomatoes.com/site/
And they sell her CD's at Wal-Mart.
I love all of the different suggestions here...I think we need to buy some of these others here too!!!
Bring on the smocking, dude!

Thanks for the help. Hide 'em in your heart - I'd forgotten all about those. My sister used to have that cassette tape! We went through a Graceland phase as well. Haven't gotten into Dan Zanes as much (except what they play on the Disney channel). And Laurie Berkner - whoo boy! The girls love to go around singing "Mommy's got a pig on her head". I sure am raising them right...

My kids like the Cedarmont Kids CDs -- I think they have Praise Ones but the ones we have are just kids' songs with a praise song thrown in every now and again.
