10 Things Tuesday

Here we go, 10 things Tuesday (Friendly Edition)

Things I am thankful for today:

  1. Acquaintances who have turned into friends! Shout out to Amy R., Erica, and Crystal. :)
  2. Talking to an old friend from HU this week. (And making 2 new dresses for her sweet Mary Presley)
  3. Seeing a picture of an old,old friend on another's blog. Those are the kind of surprises that are fun, fun.
  4. We have a fun playgroup to go to tomorrow! Can't wait!
  5. Sophie is branching out and making new friends! Can I get a woo woo?
  6. I love our Sunday School class so very much.
  7. Facebook! again ...
  8. I'm still best friends with my hubby after all these years ... okay, it's only been 6 years of marriage, but still.
  9. We got the stripes painted on the girls' wall!
  10. We are now the proud owners of Barbie Mermaidia. (And the proud watchers (4 times!) )

Weirdness of the day: the girls come to me today and say, "you are mommy and we are your poops. We're mommy and the poops!"

10 Things Tuesday

10 Things Tuesday!

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday

Today I am thankful for:

  1. The little blow up baby pools. Cheap entertainment for the littlest Ramsey!

  2. Speaking of cheap entertainment, those "6 for a dollar" water guns are absolutely priceless! (yes, I said guns. Don't go having any cows.)

  3. And since we are talking about the water guns, I am thankful that the girls used them to clean the outside windows and back door today.

  4. I am thankful that they used water and not detangling spray like last time....

  5. We got to eat KFC last night! Sorry if that grosses out the majority of you.

  6. Started Facebook last night. Don't know if that makes me feel old or young. It was fun finding people, though. (as I stayed up until midnight ... with a 5:30 a.m. run time the next day ...)

  7. Super cheap (88 cents!) fingernail polish. My toenails are currently ocean blue. Makes me feel very peaceful.

  8. We got a compliment at Wal-Mart today! In fact, it seemed as if every Wal-mart shopper was in a very mellow, tolerant-of-young-ones mood. We could have stayed all day.

  9. I am thankful that Eliza loves to be outside. She doesn't have much of a choice, see.

  10. No chemo this week!

10 Things Tuesday

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday
I'll admit it - I'm a sucker for a kind word. And Dallas is doing the most amazing thing this week. She's going down her blog roll and introducing each one to her readers. But, the coolest thing is how she's taking the time to be specific and complimentary to each one. What a great praise to our Lord to affirm His created in this way!

I've decided to do something similar with my thankful list this week. And yes, I am totally and completely copying. I will admit to that, too. I have never been a creative thinker. :)

10 People I am thankful for!

  1. Alissa - I am thankful that we directed Student Impact at Harding together. We were very different, but in a great way. That was a fun summer! Glad we've reconnected, my friend. (Oh, and she let me drive her beloved car, Little MO. :) )

  2. Amanda - I am thankful that I met her through blogging. I say "met", but we actually have never met face to face. However, the way she writes makes me feel like I know her well! She has an adorable daughter and is a really fantastic mommy.

  3. Amy Baker - Someday, I'll write a post on how every time I meet an "Amy", I end up loving her. I am thankful for Amy Baker because nothing seems to faze her. She's an inspiration to all of us parents out there in the way she calmly handles anything the world gives her and turns it into blessings. Andrew chose well!

  4. Amy Barrett - I am thankful that Amy and I clicked instantly as friends. From that moment on, we've decided to lead almost identical lives! There's no worrying when we go somewhere about what my girls are wearing, because the Barrett girls will be just as fancy. Especially the baby, Ella! Love you, Barrett!

  5. Amy Griffin - I am thankful that Amy transferred to Harding our sophomore year. From our first meeting, I was laughing every time I was with her. She also has one of the sweetest hearts. See her post about the yard babies.

  6. Amy Shumate - I am thankful that she is my friend and has found something that she is ridiculously good at. We went through a hard time together, and I'm thankful we had each other at that time. Amy is the most genuine person I know. Everything she says rings completely true.

  7. Andria - I am thankful that Andria and I are friends after all this time. It takes a special connection to be able to maintain a relationship that long and I credit her. She has lived the fun and adventurous life that most of us fantasize about. Memphis may not be as exciting as New York or L.A., but I am glad she is back in the area.

  8. Ashleigh - I am thankful for Ashleigh's loyalty to her friends. She's a running buddy to me, a shopping buddy to Jamie, pretty much some sort of "buddy" to everyone she comes into contact with. I am also thankful that she did my make-up and removed the axle grease from my veil on my wedding day. :)

  9. Carrie - I am thankful for Carrie's devotion. She is devoted to her husband and adorable boys. It is so clear in her writing. She also has set up a blog Bible study. I admire her so much for working on that. It takes a lot of effort to type out those scriptures each week. She is very aware of how much God has blessed her.

  10. Chad and Marti Jo - I am thankful that they have found each other. They were each our friends before they were married and it's fun to do things together as couples now. We don't get to as much as we would like (because of all the little princesses), but now that they are expecting their first little princess, maybe they will slow down and we will get to see them more often!

Woo-hoo! Thank you, Lord, for each of these people. They have blessed my life in so many different ways!

I'll be doing this all week!

10 Things Tuesday

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday
Okay, I can't talk about this (or won't talk about it, I don't know) but keep my mom in your prayers. Cancer stinks.....

Alright, let's count our blessings, shall we? Just a warning: I'm feeling a little ... what's the word ... wordy. :-)

  1. Could it be? I have another new favorite song? Why yes, and it makes me happy! Go ahead and try not to dance to this one.

  2. Maddie did cheers for Eliza the entire time I was in the shower today, complete with pom-poms and cheerleading outfit. (I know this because they were in the bathroom with me. I learned my lesson, yesterday!)

  3. 11 days until we leave for Florida! Woo hoo hoo hoo!

  4. I'm going to start smocking for people! I wasn't trying to be secretive before, I was still making up my mind if I wanted to do it or not. And I do! Just finished a baby gift for Jenny, a bishop for my beautiful niece, and starting Gina's gift for little Ellis. Working on the web page, as we speak! If you would like something smocked, let's work together to create something adorable!

  5. Sweet tea. And I make it so sweet, you could have it for dessert.

  6. My husband. We may be total opposites, but we never run out of stuff to talk about and we laugh every day. And he's cute. :-)

  7. Eliza is army crawling! We've never had one do this and it looks hilarious to us.

  8. Dermoplast antibacterial pain relieving spray. It's been boo-boo central here at the Ramsey house lately.

  9. My girls have friends that they love like family. They pray for them at night.

  10. I have more girlfriends in my life right now than I ever have. I love it! My friend Julie W. (whom I consider a friend even though she likes to remind me of the fact that she used to baby-sit me) told me that she will never forget the days she was a stay at home mom and the relationships she formed. Oh, how she's right! Stuff I used to fuss about, now I vent to my girlfriends and we laugh until we cry. Okay, sometimes, we just cry. Either way, it's special and I am so very grateful for it!

God is good!

10 Things Tuesday

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday

Tuesdays are great days!

10 Things Tuesday - Mad about Maddie edition!

  1. I'm thankful that she looks kind of like me. After my firstborn came out an exact replica of my husband (okay ... exact replica is stretching it. More like "feminized version"), it was kind of fun when she resembled me just a little. :-)

  2. Every time I put something in the cart today, she said, "Thank you, Mommy!" like I was giving her little presents. She got lots of laughs and no evil glares in the store. Hallelujah!

  3. We enjoyed one of our favorite meals for our weekly lunch date - fritos (with a little chili).

  4. She sings all day long. With every song on the radio in the car. While she plays in the house. I love this, because I love to sing, too. Do you recognize what she's singing in this picture? Here's a hint: think Laurie Berkner*.

  5. She poo-poo-ed in the potty on Sunday! It was a fluke, but you would have thought she'd just won the Super Bowl by the way we were dancing around while Mads was chanting "I did it!" over and over.
  6. Her hair has finally grown out of that awkward hair phase that all little girls go through. It looks really sweet in pigtails now. (Or, "dog-ears" as my dad refers to them.)

  7. She loves her Sunday School teachers. When we get within sight of our church building, she shrieks, "There's my church!" (Yes, I know, "you don't go to church, you are the church". Don't judge her, she's only two.)

  8. She let's me pick out her clothes. She usually has a "shoe opinion", though. Hence the bazillion photos of her wearing those rain boots ...

  9. She's never really suffered from the dreaded separation anxiety. She's not very outgoing, so I'm proud of her for being brave in this area.

  10. Her laugh. It's definitely not a sweet little giggle. It's a big old belly laugh. Hands down the best laugh in the house.
*she was singing, "Maddie has a ball on her head".

10 Things Tuesday

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday

10 Things Tuesday!

I'm thankful for:
  1. Being able to do laundry at my parents', yesterday. I'm totally spoiled now by their front-loading, high-efficiency washer and dryer.

  2. That my own washing machine is fixed. It may not be fancy, but in the words of the great metal band, Cinderella, you "don't know what you got ('til it's gone)."

  3. Diaper booty! (but also glad that at least one child's booty in this house is potty-trained)

  4. All the advice from my buds about my van delimma. No matter how strange the question I ask, someone I know has an answer. Geniuses, all of you.

  5. I'm out of the doghouse for said van delimma!

  6. Cahoots. My older two girls are always in cahoots (usually about ways to not take a nap) but the other day I caught all three working together. I'm pretty sure the plan was to get Eliza out the door onto the deck. This is what happens if, heaven forbid, I try to go to the bathroom. Anyhow, I love how they already work as a unit. I'll probably regret those words! :-) (Doesn't it look like Eliza's directing the action?)
  7. Everyone that Sophie wanted to invite to her birthday party is able to come! Except her cousin, Abby. :-( But we knew that ahead of time.
  8. When I went jeans shopping on Saturday, I discovered that I had gone down a whole size. I know vanity is a sin, but I have never gone down a size in my whole 31 years! It felt crazy good!
  9. Bedtime prayers. Kids want to pray for the sweetest things. It's a nightly lump in your throat.
  10. And finally, I'm thankful for Sandi's honesty in her blog, today. She shared some things that I know I've felt but never felt comfortable letting anyone know. It was very inspiring.

10 Things Tuesday

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday

Hooray! It's that time again! If you aren't blogging about this by now, I hope you are doing it in your mind each day. It's such a mood lifter!

Today I am thankful for:

  1. High thread count sheets. I'm exhausted and my bed is extremely comfortable.

  2. Bouncies. If they hadn't been invented, how would I have gotten a shower for the past 4 years? (Ours is about to be retired. It has served us well. RIP bouncy seat ...)

  3. General Foods International Coffee. Specifically - Cafe Vienna. Yum, yum.

  4. While we are on the food theme, I am thankful for leftovers. Leftovers= no cooking. We can all rejoice!

  5. Maddie did not cry for Sophie during her nap today!

  6. About five minutes after this fit (see photo), my oldest crawled into my lap and said, "Sorry, mommy." I am thankful for that.

7. I'm also thankful for her generous nature. Last summer, she wanted to make dresses for all her friends. Now, she is really into making bows. She wants to have a big box of bows that "friends can pick from!"

8. I used the phrase, "now that I'm a runner" in conversation, today. I'm thankful that my friend didn't laugh. :-)

9. Sirius radio! It gives me my 80's on the way to run, my blue grass when I'm feeling my roots, and Kidsongs the rest of the time.

10. Hearing my girls singing from the back seat. Raise your hand if you think at least one of the heavenly angel choirs will be made up entirely of toddler voices!

I encourage you to do this in your own life. It's a blessing in itself. Then go to x-box wife, so we can all share in it!

10 Things Tuesday

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday

It's thankful Tuesday! Yea!! (The more I do these, the easier they have become. I now have to edit my list down to 10. This is helping me become a lot more grateful for my blessings.)
  1. I'm thankful that my husband is not in the military. He gets to come home from work every day.

  2. Talked to my sister-in-law, Anne, today. Oh, that girl makes me laugh! I am so thankful for our friendship.

  3. Popsicles. When all is lost and we are bored to (literal) tears, it's popsicles to the rescue!

  4. Ashleigh, my running buddy. Who would have thought that I don't dread our 5:30 runs?
  5. Online banking!

  6. Sophie dressing herself each morning. It may be a crazy concoction, but it's one less outfit I have to mess with.

  7. Yeah, I know everyone says it, but Happy Hour at Sonic is one of my best friends.
  8. Time with all 3 of my babies together. Usually coloring or lego-ing in the floor. I'm glad I've got all of them home with me for another year.

  9. I found the scale! I thought maybe Jeff had hidden it. I get a little obsessive...

  10. Blogging! I believe it's helping me to find the joy, the funny, the sweet, the significant in each day. And the comment section is a whole blessing in itself! Wouldn't you agree?

10 Things Tuesday

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday
Tutorials have been moved to Thursdays. I love the thankful list too much!

  1. I pushed myself during my running class. Sure, it was yesterday, but I'm feeling it today.

  2. Sophie got to go back to school today. (And see Mrs. Kelly, the Final Authority on All Things. Well, according to my child.)

  3. Getting to hold Mads as she cried for Sophie during naptime. Tuesdays are rough because she has to nap alone. It was nice that I could comfort her.

  4. I wore my tie-dyed t-shirt today! Hated by my family, beloved by me! Did I mention I'm a little backward when it comes to fashion?

  5. These pillows on soulemama. I just might be inspired to make something other than little girl dresses...

  6. When I held Eliza up to burp her today, she turned her head and gave my face a huge lick. I know, gross, right? But it gave me a Big Laugh, and who isn't thankful for a Big Laugh?

  7. I perused Liz's Blog - Mabel's House, today. I recommend it. Especially to you interior designer types. Just beautiful. Andria, her style made me think of you...

  8. Heard from not one, but two old friends today!

  9. Saw my friend Barrett, today. The phrase "breath of fresh air"? personified.

  10. The Kitty Skirt. Without it, what would Sophie wear to water her flowers?

Thanks X-Box Wife! I've started doing this mentally every day!

10 Things

I know, I know. You're supposed to be doing these lists on Tuesday. Whoops! I'm very bad with time. All my days are a blur of diapering and crying and feeding and laughing and, if I'm lucky, a little sleeping here and there. Better late than never...

10 Things I am thankful for today:

  1. Phonecalls from the hubby throughout the day. It's nice to be thought of.

  2. Portable DVD players. We're going to the big Mountain View for the weekend. It's only about 2 1/2 hrs. away but the girls just can't handle it without a little Barbie cinema!

  3. That my in-laws didn't have any major damage during the 5 tornados that hit Mountain View about a month ago. They were very lucky.

  4. Make-up. I should probably wear this more often.

  5. Hot chocolate, hot tea, hot coffee. See a theme here? I have a sore throat.

  6. These shoes. Sophie told me to throw them away today. They are broken, she says. They've been good to us, I say. Only seven dollars and let's face it, since they are hot pink, they go with just about everything in her closet.

  7. My semi-new (Christmas) serger. My seams have had an extreme makeover.

  8. That we have a deck to play on when the backyard is all wet and mushy.

  9. Seeing my brother yesterday. Law school + Texas = never getting to see him. The girls haven't stopped talking about "Uncle Danny" all day!

  10. Three little girls in three years. I know it's cliche' to say this, but God gave me just what I needed, instead of what I thought I wanted. What a blessing they are to me. And what a blessing they are to each other!

Have a great weekend!
