My blog as advertising :)

Okay, the time has come for me to promote my new little venture. Little Show-offs is open for business! I wanted to wait until after my vacation was over before I actually began. This is very exciting for me!

A few things I really want you to know:

  • I have several different clothing patterns, but I am still working out some kinks. Therefore I am currently only selling bishops and sundresses. Sorry to all the boy moms out there!

  • All dresses are hand-sewn, except for the seams. You may choose french seams or serged.

  • These make wonderful gifts, especially when you choose the colors and smocking design yourself. Very personal. And everyone loves receiving them!

  • I really struggled with the pricing. I asked around at local fabric stores and several girlfriends. What I am offering is about $20 less than what most are asking for the same amount of work.

I truly enjoy making things and can't wait to work with you to create something beautiful! Tell your friends!

All right! I am loving your smocking. I may have to place an order from you. I was hoping you'd choose this area of work - you're so talented.

As far as your pricing goes, just make sure you include your labor, materials and however much markup you wish to do. After all, you're in biz to make money, right? $20 less can give you a big advantage though since smocked dresses can be so expensive!

Maybe it is good that I only have boys -- those smocked dresses are ADORABLE! I took a smocking class when Sam was a baby and learned that it is REALLY hard to do! Good luck with the business -- I already passed it along to some of my girl-mom friends.

NO WAY! This is great! Now I don't have to LEARN HOW TO SMOCK since I did one gathered dress and had to HAND-SEW the biases... did not love the handwork and decided that I have no patience or skill for it and therefore don't think I will add "smockery" to my ever-growing list of hobbies. YEAH.... I will be placing an order SOON.
