I quote Sophie fairly often, but my second daughter speaks, too. Here is an example of a "Maddie conversation".
Mads -"Mommy, I want the pink."
Me - "You want the pink what?"
Mads - "yes"
Me - "Maddie, you want the pink what?"
Mads - "I want the blue."
Me - "you want the blue what?"
Mads - "DADDY, I WANT THE BLUE WHAT!"
Exactly.

Wow! I think I have had that exacty conversation! I often resort to "can you show me what you want?"
