Love Song for Eliza

Well, we celebrated/mourned Eliza's first birthday/passing of her babyhood.

Yes, I know the previous statement is odd, a little sad and depressing. Sorry.

Sigh ... the thing is ... here's the thing: In the past, when we celebrate a "first birthday", we are also celebrating (sometimes secretly!) a new Ramsey on the way. It's been a constant cycle. One baby literally walking away from babyhood, one baby on the way. I guess it just makes me a little blue to see a chapter of our lives come to an end. I'm so so so not good with change.

Sigh...

Oh, but folks, what a wonderful, wonderful blessing she is.

When we were telling people that we were having a third daughter, the most hurtful thing people would say was, "Huh. Are you going to try for a boy?" As if, write this one off and try, try again.

If only they knew how AWESOME it is to raise one gender. Sure they may all be girls, but they are three totally different people with totally different personalities. I love how individual they are and I also love when I see something they all have in common.

Eliza is our most snuggly little girl by far, she thinks she is hilarious, she is a sweet little buddha-belly. She'd be an asset to any family, but I am so grateful that God placed her in ours.

She is beautiful! I LOVE those blue eyes. Gives me hope that maybe our third child will one day have blue eyes. I know what you mean about it being bittersweet. When Nora turned one, I was already preg. with Elyn. It felt weird not to be preg. this time and I am SO glad that I'm not done. AND, I would LOVE another girl, even have the name picked out!

I wish people would check themselves before they wreck themselves-just kidding-but, seriously I wish people would think before they talk! I wonder if they know how hurtful it can be. I always get oh, you adopted and then you got to have kids of your own? WHAT? (Maybe I'll just do a post!)
You get what you're supposed to get. It's so neat that in any grouping of whatever sex of children it can be THE BEST!
Eliza is beautiful and definitely has her own special place in your family! I love her eyes-wow. She will be a man-eater, too! Ha Ha.
Happy birthday, Eliza!
(It is hard when the time comes one isnt' following, isn't it-well, bitter sweet. I've been struggling with that myself...)
Okay-longest post ever.

I loved this! Especially the part about being the mother of all one gender. I'm sure you can understand how I'm feeling right now. I cannot tell you how many times I've already heard, "Aww, I was really hoping you'd have a girl." What?! How about, "Joshua and Caleb are going to love having another brother to wrestle and play football with!"

Okay, maybe a little current soap box of mine...

Eliza is just gorgeous and has the most beautiful blue eyes! You are truly blessed.

Okay, I am crying. Bleh. I hate hormones. And babies getting older....

You know what, though? I think you'll realize that, without a newborn to compare her to, Eliza will seem like a baby for a lot longer than your older two. Babyhood is much in the eye of the beholder. (Says Mama who almost slugged someone for saying "He's not a baby anymore!" about my toddler.)

I totally understand. They just get sweeter. Each month I found myself in tears. I thought I would feel so relieved to be done.
Now I just try to cherish everday with a newborn. It goes to quickly.
Hugs!!!!

Awww, that was such a sweet post. My cousins always had each other (three sisters) and I was and still am so jealous of their relationships with each other. What I wouldn't do for two sisters! I beg them to come visit me so I can pretend for a moment that I'm part of that unique family circle.

Eliza is such a pretty baby! I know what you mean about the sadness of our little ones leaving babyhood. Having babies can be addictive!

So true those words! It goes so fast & I find Gray means so much to me for a lot of reasons, but he is the last baby too. That's hard but I cherish every little thing that boy does.:)Enjoy her, she looks so happy & no one can say anything means more.

What a sweet post! And echoes my sentiments EXACTLY when I tell people that we are adding our third (and final) boy to the family. We couldn't be happier and more excited to see this new little boy get added to our family.

What a great birthday post for your sweet baby girl!

I know exactly what you mean and could have written that myself. Having Tyler turn 1 and Samuel turn 5 within a month of each other has about done me in. And yes, people should stop talking sometimes!
